DARLENE LOVE BIOGRAPHY

Darlene Love is one of the legends of music. Raised in Los Angeles, she was active in her church choir. While stil in high school she was invited to join a girl group known as The Blossoms who began recording for the legendary Phil Spector. Woith her powerful voice she was soon a highly sought after vocalist and managed to work with many of the legends of 50s and 60s rock and soul, such as Sam Cooke, Dionne Warwick, The Beach Boys, Elvis Presley and Sonny & Cher. Though credited as The Crystals, Darlene actually sang the hit "He's A Rebel".The Blossoms she sang lead vocals on some of the biggest hits of the 60s. Darlene's biggest hits include "Da Doo Ron Ron", "He's Sure The Boy I Love", and "Today I Met The Boy I'm Gonna Marry". The Blossoms landed a weekly part on SHINDIG, one of the top music shows of the era. Into the 70's Darlene continued to work as back-up singer, before taking a break in order to raise a family.

Darlene returned to music in the early 1980's and to an appreciative audience she thought may have long forgotten her. In addition to singing the songs that made her famous she has re-explored her gospel roots on several recordings. And as if that wasn't enough, she also jumped into acting, playing Danny Glover's wife in all the LETHAL WEAPON movies and appearing on Broadway in GREASE and the Tony-nominated LEADER OF THE PACK.

1998 She wrote her autobiography, MY NAME IS LOVE, published by WIlliam Morrow & Co.
