TEXTONES BIOGRAPHY

Textones were a fixture in the Los Angeles music scene from the very late 70s through the 80s. The line-up changed often, but the one constant was the tall, sultry singer/songwriter/guiatrist Carla Olson. The early line-up (the one that produced their lone recording for the I.R.S. family of labels) included future Go-Go's bassist Kathy Valentine (Valentine's replacement was George Callins).

Although Textones evolved over time, it wasn't until 1984 that they produced their first LP, MIDNIGHT MISSION, released on Gold Mountain Records (a label distributed, like I.R.S., by A&M Records). Three more LPs on three different labels over the next ten years took their toll and Carla decided to become a solo artist. After all, she was by then practicaly the only consistent musician and any recording session anchored by her was essentially a Textones recording.

Besides solo work, Carla did a number of records with virtually a who's who of LA (and beyond) folk-rockers: Gene Clark (ex-Byrds), Mick Taylor, Ry Cooder, Don Henley, John Fogerty, Phil Seymour and others too numerous to mention...
